Subject: [*] ][2Mac v1.2.3
A new version of ][2Mac has been released recently and can be downloaded
from my homepage http://www.caiw.nl/~adam
][2Mac is a set of 3 applications, 1 for the Mac and 2 for the Apple-][,
that allow you to backup and restore Apple-][ floppies to/from a Mac.
The floppy-image is stored on the Mac in a format that is recognized by
IIe, the Apple //e emulator for the Mac, written by Victor and Vincent Tan
(see: http://www-personal.usyd.edu.au/~vtan/sw/index.html).
One of the users of ][2Mac even reported, that he has successfully
transferred DOS 3.3-, ProDOS- as well as Pascal-formatted disks from
his Apple //e to his Mac, and that he is using the diskimages now
on his Mac, in the IIgs emulator called 'Bernie ][ the Rescue'
(see: http://www.magnet.ch/emutech/Bernie/).
Also... ][2Mac enables you to use a Macintosh to send out and receive
Apple-][-disks to and from your friends over the internet...
12-aug-1998, v1.2.3
-Fixed a problem that made the first backup after an attempt to backup
a copy-protected floppy unsuccessfull
-The Apple-][ now stops sending when a disk-full occurs on the Mac-side
-AL=2 (in line 20) now sends all sectors of a 35-track floppy, simply
skipping the bad sectors (those that result in I/O-errors)
-Implemented a fix that allows you to define how often disk-read-errors
will be retried. To do this use the RM (RetryMaximum) variable in line 20.
The default number of retries is now defined to be 1, which should be OK.

Subject: [*] BetaScan v102
BetaScan is a neat Drag 'n Drop utility which scans files, folders and
disks for none final code files.
None final code file, means any program or system extension (control
panels, drivers, libraries,etc..) that aren't 'final' versions. These none
final versions can be the reason of big system crashes when they are system
extensions. Size : 36kb.

Subject: [*] CookWare 3.5
CookWare isn't just another FileMaker Pro cookbook -
With CookWare 3.5 you can now send a recipe to a friend easily. The
graphics have been improved and an area has been added for web page
resources.
CookWare doesn't have a lot of fields to fill out, making it much less
time consuming and easier to use than other cookbooks, yet gives you
excellent multiple search capabilities.
Download recipes from USENET or the WEB and then drag and drop into
CookWare - simple.
The interface is easy to use and nice looking. You won't have the feeling
of being lost in this program but at the same time it's quite
comprehensive. It includes 280 hand-picked, wonderful recipes (no
"filler" recipes). More are available. Req. FileMaker pro 3.
If you have a 13" monitor you can download CookWare 3 and other FileMaker
Pro Software at:
http://www.kagi.com/pcargo/
Look for: additional CookWare recipes, BarWare, SafeCat, SafeDog and
CarCare.

Subject: [*] data-rescue-20-fat.sit (a data recovery tool for crashed volume
Note: FAT version - a 68K version is also posted.
Data Rescue is a tool for recovering lost Macintosh volumes. It recovers
files and folders
from crashed hard disks, floppy disks, or removable cartridges. Recovered
data are saved to
another medium, leaving the original disk untouched.
The main interest in Data Rescue is that the strategy for finding lost
files is original,
different from the strategies used by other tools like 'Norton Utilities'.
Not only will it
find your data in situations where the other tools fail, but it will
recover them in a much
better condition, restoring icons, dates and even folder hierarchy.
The shareware fee for Data Rescue is $39. Until you register your copy with
a personnal code,
you can only recover 1 file per session. This allows you to test Data
Rescue and check that it
helps you in your particular situation.
Works on all Macs, needs System 7 or better. Compatible with MacOS 8 and HFS+.
Can be distributed freely for non-profit purposes in the form of this archive.

Shutdown Items folder.
Specific features:
* Minimal user interface makes for ideal automated operation
* Prevents attempting to set an impossible bit depth
* AppleScript source is included for easy customization
* It's Free!
System requirements:
* System software 7.5 or greater, 7.6 or greater for full features

eMerge is a simple desktop application from Galleon Software that lets
you personalize form letters and send them to people on the Internet.
You can use our built-in tools to create lists of names and e-mail
addresses, or import all the information you need from your existing
databases.
-- Websites use eMerge to follow up with the visitors who sign their
guest book, download a file, or request information.
-- Online Businesses use eMerge to bill their customers, remind them
of special offers, and search for new business.
-- Consultants use eMerge to work their network, keep in touch with
their clients, and make new contacts.
-- Doctors use eMerge to remind their patients of upcoming appointments
and to recall their patients once a year.
-- Teachers use eMerge to send grades, announcements, and special
assignments to their students.
This demo allows you to use all the features of the full version of
eMerge, except that you can only send ten messages in any one session;

* I come every weekday at 5:30pm, make sure that when I arrive that the
furnace is set to 70=83F, the hot tub is on, and the CD player is playing my
favorite music. If I am running late, I will call home from my cellular and

This is version 5.1 of Rinaldi's X-Archive. As of 8/27/98, it has
all his latest XCMDs and XFCNs for Hypercard and Supercard. the archive
itself also has a few new features: a seach engine by topic, a button to
copy an external over while in Hypercard. There are well over 100 externals
in this package, and if you're a person who ever needs an external, then at
some point, you'll surely find something to fit your needs here. This
version of the archive was compiled by Ian Krieg and tested by Alan Bott.
Since version 5.0, we have added and updated externals, as well as fixing a
few bugs.

Subject: [*] SwitchRes 1.4.1 - english version
SwitchRes is a control panel that allows you to control the resolutions
of all your displays. A Control Strip Module and a Contextual Menu
extension are bundled. You can change all your resolutions with just
one mouse click on the Finder desktop, or just by pressing one key.
It also allows you to:
----------------------
* use *all* avaiable resolution of your video cards, not only those the
MacOS choose for you
* automatically switch resolution and color depth of all monitors when
launching an application
* position the desktop icons where you want, at every resolution change
and at startup
* configure the menus by choosing which resolutions and what bitdepths
will be displayed (Control Strip Module menu, Contextual Menu)
and a lot of other features...
SwitchRes requires MacOS 8, and a multisync monitor may be useful...
It is distributed as a $9 shareware.
Bugs corrected and new in version 1.4.1:
----------------------------------------
* SwitchRes is fully Appearance savvy, and supports all the themes in
the new MacOS 8.5
* the SwitchRes Control Strip Module is provided as a native Control
Strip Module for MacOS 8.5
* Now you can use all available resolutions of your video card even
if you don't have a PCI Macintosh.
* The AppleVision/ColorSync 1710, 750 and 850 monitors are now
correctly handled again.
* SwitchRes now correctly prevents some applications to change the
resolution to an unaccessible one. For example, Diablo could change
the resolution to 640x480, 67 Hz even if you disabled it in
SwitchRes.
* A bug that prevented FaxCilitate to be used when SwitchRes was active
is now corrected.
What was new in version 1.4:
----------------------------
* The SwitchRes Control Strip Module becomes optional. You only need to
install the Control Panel.
* Instead of the Control Strip, an icon can be displayed in the System
Menu bar to give you access to SwitchRes from within all applications
* A Contextual Menu Extension is bundled, that allows you to change the
resolutions of all your displays with just one click on the desktop
* You can assign a key shortcut to a display set. Enjoy changing your

Subject: [*] Twistory 1.1 - History Browser
Twistory 1.1 (FAT)
"Twistory" is a history browser. It displays the lifetimes and
travels of historical figures, and dates and locations of historical
events. It is a tool for keeping track of when and where things happened,
and their relationships to each other. A resource of over 800 people,
events and places is included. The database has a simple text format, so
that more historical information can be added by any user. A complete
description of the file format is included.
The two main windows are the time-line window, which shows lives and
events against a variable time scale, and the map window, which shows
people and events in their geographic locations during an interval of time.
There is also a genealogy window which shows the ancestors and descendants
of a selected person and a "This Day in History" window which lists all
milestones occurring on a particular day of the year.
The program is called "Twistory" because it puts a new "twist on
history." It is not intended - and cannot be used - as a substitute for
proper reading and research into a historical period. Rather, it is meant
to provide a way to keep track of the multitude of different peoples,
dynasties, empires and developments throughout history. It is intended to
answer questions like, "What else was happening in the world at that time?"
and, "Did A live at the same time as B, or before?" It is intended to
provide the user with "the big picture."
Twistory is a FAT binary, and requires system 7. It uses about 4.2 Mb
of disk space, and needs about 2 Mb of RAM to run comfortably. With a
large monitor or with several windows open, 4 Mb is better. Instructions
are included in both TEXT and HTML format.
Twistory is $10 (US or CAN) shareware. You may evaluate it for free.
If you use it regularly, keep it for more than one month, or use it for
presentation to a group, I would enjoy getting a little something for it.
If you feel so obliged, you may send the payment to the address included
with the program. If you desire support, please send your e-mail address
along, and I will write back. This program is free for all users who have
registered a previous version of it.

Subject: [*] Window Monkey 1.2.5
This is the English version of Window Monkey 1.2.5.
Window Monkey adds background pictures or textures to any window in the
Finder. You can color-code your windows to see at a glance what they
contain, or use wild patterns just for fun: your folder of "work stuff"
can have a background that looks like a legal pad, and you can add some
hearts to your folder of love letters. Patterns aren't just for desktops
anymore!
The program is useful, too. The handy Window Monkey menu lets you quickly
go to any window in any application, even if it's buried beneath many
other windows. Window Monkey also remembers recently used folders and
lets you instantly jump to any open or recently used folder from an Open
or Save dialog box.
45 background patterns are included, and you can add as many as you wish
by simply pasting or dragging pictures into the control panel.
Version 1.2.5 does not add any new features, but fixes some problems
found in previous versions, including a possible crash on 68K Macs
running System 7. Full details are in the "What's New?" section of the
included documentation. All Window Monkey users should upgrade to this
new version; the upgrade is free.
Window Monkey is compatible with System 7 and Mac OS 8 and later,
including Mac OS 8.1. This version has also been tested with prerelease
copies of Mac OS 8.5. It is compatible with other desktop enhancements
such as Kaleidoscope.
$20 shareware. A Japanese version is also available.

Subject: [*] Window Monkey 1.2.5J - Japanese Version
This is the Japanese version of the Window Monkey package.
Choose patterned backgrounds for Macintosh Finder windows. You even get a
handy way to navigate through windows and folders, so it's useful, too.
MacAddict magazine rates Window Monkey among the top 20 Mac shareware
programs, CNET calls the software "too cool," and MacWorld magazine chose it
as a Pick of the Week. For Mac OS.
Window Monkey adds background pictures or textures to any window in the
Finder -- it's like "Desktop Patterns" or "Desktop Pictures", but for folder
window backgrounds instead of the desktop.
You can color-code your windows to see at a glance what they contain, or use
wild patterns just for fun. Give your folder of "work stuff" a background
that looks like a legal pad, or choose a background of hearts for that ZIP
disk full of love letters.
This program also helps you better manage your windows in every application
(not just the Finder): You can use the handy Window Monkey menu to quickly
go to any window in any application, even if it's buried beneath many other
windows. Window Monkey also remembers recently used folders and lets you
instantly jump to any open or recently used folder from an Open or Save
dialog box.
46 background patterns are included, and you can add as many as you wish by
simply pasting or dragging your own pictures into the control panel.
Window Monkey is compatible with System 7 and Mac OS 8 and later (including
8.1).
This version fixes some incompatibilities found in version 1.2.4 and adds
support for Mac OS 8.5.
