Subject: [*] ][2Mac v1.2.0
A new version of ][2Mac has been released today.
][2Mac is a set of 3 applications, 1 for the Mac and 2 for the Apple-][,
that allow you to backup and restore Apple-][ floppies to/from a Mac.
The floppy-image is stored on the Mac in a format that is recognized by
IIe, the Apple //e emulator for the Mac, written by Victor and Vincent Tan
(see: http://www-personal.usyd.edu.au/~vtan/sw/index.html).
One of the users of ][2Mac even reported, that he has successfully
transferred DOS 3.3-, ProDOS- as well as Pascal-formatted disks from
his Apple //e to his Mac, and that he is using the diskimages now
in the IIgs emulator called 'Bernie ][ the Rescue'
(see: http://www.magnet.ch/emutech/Bernie/).
Also... ][2Mac enables you to use a Macintosh to send out and receive
Apple-][-disks to and from your friends over the internet...
This version obsoletes all previous versions that have been made available in
the Info-Mac archives (http://hyperarchive.lcs.mit.edu/Recent-Summary.html)
under the name 'ii2mac'.
Kind regards,

BusStop is a clock. But its way of displaying a time is unusual.
Let's suppose that you are watching a busstop from an opposite side of a
street. As there's an excellent bus service in a town, a bus comes every
five minutes. You can see a route number, persons, sparrows and a bench.
The route number indicates an hour. A person comes every one minute.
A sparrow appears every five minutes. A bench has an ad on its back. It
changes everyday. You can set your strings for it. Enjoy!

Peek-a-Boo lets you open CPU history windows to track how much processor
power a process uses.
Logging windows can be opened, too, to watch memory and processor usage,
optionally saving the information to a tab-delimited file for further
analysis.
**** What is new in Peek-a-Boo 1.3? ****
The latest version of Peek-a-Boo focuses on ease of use. New features
include:
- Sort by a variety of attributes, including Name, AcTix, PSN,
Signature, FreeMem, and more.

Subject: [*] SpriteWorld 2.1.1
SpriteWorld 2.1.1 is the latest update to the widely respected
SpriteWorld animation library originally written by Tony Myles in
1993-94, and updated to version 2.0 by Karl Bunker and Vern Jensen in
1996. SpriteWorld 2.1.1 is a major update to that release, and provides
numerous improvements, including an impressive list of new features and
some bug fixes. Several cool new demos are also included in the package.
SpriteWorld is a free animation package for programmers that allows you
to easily add sprite-based animation to your program. SpriteWorld was
designed with game programmers in mind, and has many features that are
very useful for making games, such as smooth overlapping of sprites,
custom blitters to speed up the animation, pixel-precise collision
detection, the ability to create an unlimited number of sprites of any
size, a fast scrolling engine, and much more. SpriteWorld comes with
complete source code, so you can modify it if necessary to suit your
needs.
Here are just some of the improvements in SpriteWorld 2.1.1:
* Numerous bug fixes.
* Various speed improvements.
* A wide variety of new or improved blitters, customized for various
uses and situations. These include blitters for all bit depths for 68K
and PPC compiles, 68K and PPC blitters optimized for 8 bit color, and
blitters for real-time scaling, rotating, translucency, and lighting
effects.
* A new double-rect blitter which eliminates the ugly "seams" from
scrolling animations, in addition to making them go faster on most
PowerMacs.
* Functions that allow you to move and resize your window, while still
being able to use direct-to-screen blitters.
* Two new callback functions allow you to draw in the offscreen areas
during the animation after the sprites were erased, and after they have
been drawn, but before the screen is updated.
* Functions for determining whether a sprite has run into a tile or
"set" of tiles.
* The ability to set "hot spots", used to calculate the location of each
Frame of a Sprite.
* Split-screen scrolling routines allowing two or more viewpoints of the
same game field.
* Several great new demos, such as:
- Shark Attack, an example of a real game that uses SpriteWorld.
- Split Screen Scrolling demo, which demonstrates the split screen
scrolling routines.
- Platform Scrolling, a basic platform type game.
- Maze Game - move the ball around the maze.
- Various demos that make use of the rotating, scaling, translucency,
and lighting capabilities.

Subject: [*] THE BLOCK v2.0 - Macintosh Password Protection System
THE BLOCK is a powerful password protection system for Macintosh
computers.
Unlike other password protection systems, it will not accept real
passwords. To log in to a computer protected by THE BLOCK you need to go
through a two-step process. First you need to type a Password Key, which
is a key combination similar to the Finder's Copy or Paste shortcuts
[command+c] or [command+v]. The second step is to click with the mouse on
the shutdown button on the on-screen dialog or, depending on the
preferences you set, to press the "esc" key on your keyboard.
A big part of THE BLOCK's security comes from the illusion that a real
password is needed. If intruders are not aware of how THE BLOCK works,
they will always choose the wrong approach. If they are aware, THE BLOCK
will still be as protective as every other password system because there
are many possible Password Keys and there is an option to disable the
shift key at startup. A Password Key can consist of any of the four
modifiers (command, alt, control or shift) and another key on your
keyboard, including the cursor keys, the F-keys and the page navigation
keys.
THE BLOCK is US$10 shareware. It is available from Marc Mennigmann's web
site and all major Macintosh shareware archives and ftp sites. Version
2.0 is a free upgrade to registered users of any earlier version.
System Requirements: Any Apple Macintosh or clone with at least a 68020
CPU running MacOS System 7.1 or later.
What is new in THE BLOCK 2.0?
=============================
Password Keys can contain multiple modifiers (command, option, control
and shift). F-keys, cursor keys or page navigation keys can also be used
as part of the Password Key.
The application used to set up the preferences, called "THE BLOCK Setup",
has been completely rewritten to be compatible with all Macs running
System 7.1.
The entire user interface has been redesigned to make THE BLOCK's
settings more intelligible. In particular, the procedure to change the
Password Key has been designed to be intuitive and straightforward.
An introduction system was added to prevent first time users from being
locked out of their own computer.
All problems changing the Password Key on PowerMacs have been eliminated.
Further, "THE BLOCK Setup" is completely Appearance Manager savvy and

As an active surfer you surely want to find some specific information when
you are not surfing just for fun. But where do you store that information?
The "regular" URL manager stores URLs, a name of the URL and perhaps a
description. So you have one sentence for a whole lot of information.Of
course you can store everything in your head. However, the lifetime of the
data and the search time are not overly good. Hundreds of html files are
the next alternative, which is not very userfriendly. Therefore the perfect
solution is a database with Filemaker. The database gives some other
advantages: layout, sorting and searching can be customized in a few
minutes. You can check your ULRs for duplicates, plan URL visits and so on.
