Subject: [*] Amadeus 1.5.7 for Kaleidoscope
This is Amadeus for Kaleidoscope, a colour scheme for use with the
Kaleidoscope control panel by Greg Landweber et al. This is an
easy-on-the-eye Kaleidoscope scheme designed for long periods of use.
In its year of existence, it has been described by reviewers
as being superior to other implementations of the Apple Mac OS8
platinum appearance.
Amadeus 1.5.7 is a major upgrade that increases Mac OS8 support under
Kaleidoscope 1.8, with popup windows, bevel buttons, and OS8 folders.
As the version number indicates, this is still compatible with earlier
revisions of Kaleidoscope, all the way back to Kaleidoscope 1.5.
Support for Amadeus can be found on the web at the Kaleidoscope Way:
Amadeus will not be seen on the official Kaleidoscope Scheme Archive.

"Animals for Singer" is a sound collection for use with Singer. Thanks to
the contributions of various people, you can now turn your Mac into a farm
by making it play an animal's sound every time you type the animal's name!
Singer is a cool control panel that plays specific sounds whenever you
type their name on the keyboard, regardless of whether you're typing inside
a word processor, a dialog box or anywhere else.

Subject: [*] BanzaiReader - for newton message pads
This, my newton freeware package, demonstrating continuous sliding or
slider zooming of images from newton press. Install the two enclosed
packages. You simply select DemoNp from left diamond (BookPicker) popup
menu and 0 or 1 from right diamond (PicturePicker) popup, then drag the
image around or use slider in lower-right-hand corner to zoom about last
penned point. I've included crosshairs to show you the last pen position
where the zoom is about. This helps the eye keep track of where you are
in the image of a map or a book page. I recalled once, Next machines had
advertised such a finder feature based on its powerful processor. When
you dragged your window objects, you didn't merely see an outline but
the whole object moving. With pages of a special sort of newton press
book comprised only of pictures and the help of Steve Weyer's newt
compiler and newton's NTK, I've figured out how to continuously slide
and zoom, on the newton (so far tested on mp2000 and mp130 and very fast
on both). In particular, I have enclosed a sample file (DemoNP) with a
picture of a map page from http://superpages.gte.net on the internet and
a typeset page from Los Alamos scientific bulletin board also on the
internet. This allows one to feel like the huge page is just under the
screen to slide about. Cross hairs at the pen let you see your place
marked as you slide it, so you effectively have a huge virtual screen to
read from on a pocket computer. The newton can simulate such large
virtual screens fast! A whole lot can fit in your pocket! Soon, my
newton gps talking-map program will soon will be able to do this. May
you live ten thousand years, Newton, and of course Apple!

The CLUT#8 Picker is a shareware Color Picker Manager extension that
complements the Apple-provided color pickers (HLS Picker, HSV Picker,
RGB Picker, etc.). It makes it very easy to pick colors that belong to
the 256 Colors 8-Bit System Color Look-Up Table (hence the CLUT#8 Picker
name). This is often desirable when developing web graphics - for
instance.
Requirements
- Mac OS 7.5 or beyond.

Subject: [*] Concordance 2.1
Concordance 2.1 - Concordance maker.
Concordance is freeware. =A9 1995-1998 by Giovanni Giusti
.
Concordance picks a TEXT file, reads it, then displays some information
about the original file, such as size, number of words, number of different
words, etc.
It also creates an index containing a list (the "concordance") of all the
words, together with how many times each word appeared in the original.
Thus it is useful for statistical purposes ("How many times did I mention
"barracuda" in my article?"). This list can be sorted prior to saving.
Starting from version 2, you can also output a list (the "wordlist") of all
the words with the "pages" they have appeared in - a sort of very basic
indexing. The problem is obviously that plain-text files don't have any
page breaks, so the "page" is calculated on a n-characters-per-page basis.
This list, unfortunately, cannot be sorted, because it is created on the
fly while saving it. But you can sort it through your favourite word
processor, can't you?
Changes since version 2.0b1
- Now concordances can be sorted by number of occurrences as well as
alphabetically.

Subject: [*] CoolViews 1.0 - Enhance Finder list views
WHAT IS COOLVIEWS?
At last, the OS 8 functionality people have been waiting for is here!
With CoolViews installed, you can get rid of shaded sort columns and row
separators in the Finder's windows, resize the columns in Finder list
views, set global list view preferences, override the date and time
formatting used by the Finder, and even enable "secret" columns.
MACOS 8 IS GREAT. AND WITH COOLVIEWS, IT'S BETTER THAN EVER!
Every preference in CoolViews is customizable. You can use as much or
as little of its functionality as you need: from the simplest enhancement
to a complete overhaul of the Finder's windows. If you want to shorten
the date used in Finder list views, decrease the column widths, and
eliminate the lines separating rows, you can do that. If you want to
completely override folder-specific list view preferences, use funky
background colors in your windows, and add columns showing the creator
and type of every file, you can do that too!
Versions of CoolViews are available for both PowerMacs and 680x0
Macs, and in Japanese as well as English. CoolViews is compatible with
MacOS 8.1 and works with other appearance-modifying utilities like
Kaleidoscope.

Subject: [*] Kinga
Kinga is a unique gambling game with an Egyptian theme.
It is your goal to win enough money to build a Pyramid which consists of
six construction levels each costing 2000 credits.
When completed the secrets of a Pyramid will be revealed to you!!
The game is split into three different stages - The Begin Stage, The
Pyramid Gamble Stage and finally, The Sphinx Stage.
Credits that are won can be transfered from one stage to the other.
The game is lost if at any time you run out of credits. Watch out for
the gremlins and demon !!!!!
I wrote Kinga originally for myself to provide an exciting substitute
for real gambling machines and it has already saved me a lot of money!!!
The program chooses reel and pyramid positions at random.
Version 3.0 includes
- a snazzy new graphic interface
- new sounds including real speech
- an extra gambling stage
Version 2.0 has some new features
- play, sound & speech settings
- pyramid background info
- revised instructions
- 256 colour compatible
- fixes some bugs

Subject: [*] MacTypingTutorDv4.1
MacTypingTutorDv uses the Dvorak keyboard layout. Many typing experts
believe this to be the best system for typing. The standard QWERTY layout
(named for the keys on the upper left side of the keyboard) was apparently
designed in the early years to slow typists down (so early typewriters
wouldn't jam). By the time the typewriters caught up in speed, it was too
late to change the layout because too many QWERTY typewriters existed. The
Dvorak system tried to correct the layout problem over the years.
But only with the arrival of the personal computor has the Dvorak system
become practical. This is because, unlike typewriters, personal computers
can work with any keyboard layout that's installed. So, while one user of a
particular typewriter might type with the standard layout another user can
just as easily type with the Dvorak layout.
MacTypingTutorDv (Dvorak layout included) will help you learn touch-typing
Dvorak style. The program is very EASY to use. It lets you customize how
you work (hide/show typing, hide/show screen-keyboard, hide/show feedback
window). It's FLEXIBLE you can adjust difficulty level from very easy to
hard (this is also a good feature for children). The program automatically
remembers your work-preferences from session to session.
Note: the program also comes in a regular version (MacTypingTutor), for
those not yet ready to switch.

Subject: [*] Popup Navigator 1.2b1J - Japanese Version
This is the Japanese version of the Popup Navigator package. The
Japanese version of this freeware utility is provided as a service of
Bridge 1 Software
You know the popup menu you get when you command-click a Finder (tm)
windowユs title bar? This control panel adds similar
functionality to most applications.
This version requires System 7.5 and works in a very simple manner: it
looks for a unique open file of the same name as the window, and
displays the popup if found. The filename must be the same as the
windowユs title. If there is no matching file no popup will
appear and the window will drag as normal. If there is more than one
matching file, a small disabled popup menu will appear telling you this.
If the navigation popup menu appears, you can drag through it; if you
select an item, then Popup Navigator tells the Finder to display that
item. Just like folder windows in the Finder!

Subject: [*] powermenu2.2.1j.sit
This is the Japanese version of the PowerMenu package.
PowerMenu is the definitive, comprehensive Contextual Menu utility.
PowerMenu adds powerful commands to the Finder's Contextual Menu under
MacOS 8, and provides its own Contextual Menu for System 7 users.
PowerMenu's wide range of commands lets you:
*Open selected files into any running application
*Open selected files into any other application on your system
*Move, copy or make an alias of selected files into target folders of your
choosing
*Quickly open commonly used files or launch any application
That's not all! PowerMenu also offers the following features:
*"File Copy and Paste", a unique feature that makes manipulating files
in the Finder much easier. With File Copy and Paste, you can pick up
files and drop them into another folder. You can even "gather" many
files from different locations and copy or move them all to a single
target folder with just a few clicks or keystrokes! *A pop-up menu,
accessible from any application, that lets you quickly open or launch
your commonly used files and applications with a single click. *Fully
hierarchical menus to allow you to group items into submenus for even
faster access *Multithreaded operation; PowerMenu rebuilds your menus in
the background while you work, so even very large menus appear
instantly *Takes full advantage of the Contextual Menu under MacOS 8,
but is still fully compatible with System 7!
Version 2.2.1 (January 5th, 1998):
Bug-fix release. Problems addressed include bugs when pasting multiple
files under System 7, pasting files to the desktop under Japanese
systems, moving files to a non-existent folder, and incorrect refreshing
of the contextual menu when "running applications" is disabled.
Enhancements include more intelligent alias resolving for items on
remote servers, less intensive background activity and better
compatibility with At Ease.

Singer is a cool control panel that plays specific sounds whenever you
type their name on the keyboard, regardless of whether you're typing inside
a word processor, a dialog box or anywhere else.
The sounds to play are stored in the "Singer Sounds" folder inside the
System folder and must be in double-clickable sound file format (aka System
7 sounds).
Version 1.1 lets you put aliases to sound files in the Singer Sounds
folder. This is very useful when you want multiple words to play the same
sound.
A new sound collection for use with Singer is also being released, thanks
to the contributions of various people. You can turn your Mac into a farm,
by making it play an animal's sound every time you type the animal's name!
