On a complex project, there could be a dozen or more separate issues being dealt with simultaneously, each with its own distinct status and decision stream. Digital Diary helps keep track of all this by providing a convenient way of recording and automatically organizing this information. While most personal information managers focus on scheduling and contacts management, Digital Diary focuses on keeping an organized record of your activities and decisions, allowing you quick and easy retrieval of a project's history. Versatile report generation can organize your data in any manner you choose. Digital Diary can even be used as a front end to a project, thanks to user-defined links to specific project documents that can be opened with a click of the mouse from within Digital Diary. Here are a Few of the Many Uses of Digital Diary: Business, Sales, and Consulting: Ñ Project activities and decisions Ñ Upcoming deadlines, meetings, and appointments Ñ Telephone and meeting records Ñ Discussions with suppliers, consultants, clients and co-workers Ñ Decisions made and communicated to clients, co-workers, and subordinates Ñ Directions received from clients, authorities, and management Ñ Decision / activity 'streams' relating to issues within a project Academic and Scientific: Ñ Experiment progress notes Ñ On-going research projects Educational: Ñ Individual student progress diary Home and Personal: Ñ Personal projects and hobbies Ñ Special events (weddings, holidays, family reunions, etc.) Some Unsolicited Comments from Users: "I've downloaded and am using your Digital Diary and I like it a lot." KIU relaunches applications that crash, it can restart the Mac on a regular basis and it can monitor free disk space. It also allows you to remotely manage and monitor your Mac (server) using a webbrowser. The primary function of KIU is to automatically relaunch applications if for some reason they stop running (crashes, accidental quits,...). KIU can also restart your Mac on a regular basis to reduce memory fragmentation. For remote management purposes, KIU has a tiny "embedded" webserver (running on a port of your choice) that allows you to remotely perform many functions such as: restarting the mac; view, kill or restart running applications; launch applications; run Applescripts; view logfiles generated by applications ... KIU can send e-mail messages to you, actively alerting you of certain events such as : free disk space falls below a certain preset level; an application gets relaunched; KIU restarts the Mac ... Keep-It-Up-X 3.1 adds 2 important new features: * KIU automounter can automatically mount Appleshare volumes at startup or remount AS volumes when they become unmounted. * Virtual memory statistics help to determine if performance can be improved by adding more RAM to your system. Hi Folks, I was helping a friend with his iMac (sys 8.1 ) that was doing weird things. The date and time settings kept being lost, so I assumed he needed a new battery. But because other strange things were also happening, I tried a few housekeeping basics, like * switch off all but the basic Sys8 extensions * rebuild the desktop (that went OK) * zap the PRAM (that elicited a bomb and an error message, to wit "system error "Finder" & bus error) * run TechTool lite on the system files. This cleared Finder, but reported a problem with the system file Meanwhile, the Mac was having trouble finding the startup disk when it was switched on. Also, some graphics were displaying with white bands across them. So I decided to do a clean install from the Sys8.1 CD-ROM. Only trouble was, although the CD-ROM mounted OK when inserted, the iMac could not find it when I attempted to use it to start up. I held down the C key during startup, but still got the flashing ? ? ?, and eventually a boot from the hard drive. Even when I opened the STARTUP DISK control panel and selected the CD, the iMac still eventually booted from the hard drive. Then I thought, "Well, if I am attempting a CLEAN install, perhaps I can do it even if I have booted from the hard drive." So I tried it, and it seemed to install OK. But now I cannot boot at all, either from a CD or from the hard disk. Could these problems be related to the flat battery?
