Subject: [*] Apollo 2.0 (German)
Apollo 2.0
This is the German version 2.0 of Apollo, the very popular launching utility.
"The best $30 I ever spent" (DJ: Seattle, WA)
"I've never been so pleased with a bit of shareware" (JR: Palo Alto, CA)
"The best launcher around" (WS: Surrey, UK)
"Many thanks for your amazing software" (RB: Linz, Austria)
Apollo is a launching utility. You configure a menu containing those
applications, control panels, desk accessories, folders and documents
you use frequently. Then, whatever you are doing, a click of the
mouse pops up the menu and lets you open any of the configured items.
You can organise items into groups, with each group having its own
submenu. If a group is made "active", selecting its name makes Apollo
open all the items in the group seriatim. Apollo can automatically
control the sound level and screen depth for each application,
changing them as you switch between applications. It also has
facilities for switching between applications using the keyboard.
New features in version 2.0 are too numerous to mention, but include
lots of native PowerMac code, completely rewritten configuration, many
more preference options, the ability to assign keyboard alternatives for
items in Apollo's menus, much more control over the look of the popup
menu, including different colours and styles for different kinds of item,
etc etc etc.
Apollo 2.0 is shareware: the fee is US$30, 15 pounds sterling or the
equivalent of US$30 in your local currency. There are significant
discounts for multiple-copy and site licences. There is no upgrade fee
for registered users of previous versions. Registration can be made
via Kagi Shareware. Registration and online registration utilities
are provided as part of the package. Unlike me, Kagi can accept
payments by credit card and through First Virtual.
Apollo 2.0 requires system 7 (it is fully compatible with system 8)
and a Mac with a 68020 or better processor.

Subject: [*] CoolViews 1.0.1J - Japanese Version
This is the Japanese version of the CoolViews package.
WHAT IS COOLVIEWS?
CoolViews is a utility that adds functionality and visual enhancements
to the MacOS 8 Finder. With CoolViews installed, you can get rid of
shaded sort columns and row separators in the Finder's windows, resize
the columns in Finder list views, set global list view preferences,
override the date and time formatting used by the Finder, and even
enable "secret" columns.
MACOS 8 IS GREAT. AND WITH COOLVIEWS, IT'S BETTER THAN EVER!
Every preference in CoolViews is customizable. You can use as much or as
little of its functionality as you need: from the simplest enhancement
to a complete overhaul of the Finder's windows. If you want to shorten
the date used in Finder list views, decrease the column widths, and
eliminate the lines separating rows, you can do that. If you want to
completely override folder-specific list view preferences, use funky
background colors in your windows, and add columns showing the creator
and type of every file, you can do that too!
Versions of CoolViews are available for both PowerMacs and 680x0 Macs,
and in Japanese as well as English. CoolViews is compatible with MacOS
8.1 and works with other appearance-modifying utilities like
Kaleidoscope.
WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 1.0.1
Version 1.0.1 is a minor bug fix release. We recommend that all
CoolViews users upgrade to version 1.0.1, especially those using 680x0
Macs and people using non-US versions of the MacOS. Details are
available in the manual and on our web site.

Subject: [*] Default Folder 2.8 - Mac OS 8.1 compatible Open/Save dialog
Default Folder is a shareware control panel that enhances Open and Save
dialog boxes to make it easier for you to manage files on your Macintosh.
It provides many of the essential features of the commercial SuperBoomerang
and Directory Assistance utilities, but without the infrequently used
extras that take their toll in compatibility, memory, and CPU usage. And
it's fully compatible with Mac OS 8.1!
Default Folder's time-saving Open and Save dialog enhancements allow you to:
- Set up a default folder for any or all applications.
- Switch among recently used folders from a pop-up menu.
- See available disk space and switch between disks from a pop-up menu.
- Click on a Finder window to display it in an Open or Save dialog.
- Open the folder shown in an Open or Save dialog in the Finder.
- Create folders, get information (including changing name, type, and
creator), and move items to the Trash from within file dialogs.
- "Rebound" back to the last file you used.
- Make "Replace" the default option instead of "Cancel" when saving
a file with the same name as an existing file.
- Speed up the display of Open and Save dialogs by turning off custom
color icons in the file list.
Default Folder will operate on any Macintosh running System 7 or higher.
In addition to the standard internet archives, information and updates are
available at:
Default Folder may be included on the UMich and Info-Mac CD-ROMs.
Version 2.8 incorporates the following changes:
-----------------------------------------------
Feature Additions:
- Compatibility with Mac OS 8.1.
- Folders containing files double-clicked in the Finder are now
remembered in addition to those accessed using Open and Save
dialog boxes.
- The entire folder menu can now be sorted chronologically, so
command keys no longer reshuffle when new folders are manually
added.
- Cmd-Delete is now a permanent shortcut for "Move item to Trash."
Other keyboard shortcuts were also added to allow speedier
navigation in file dialogs.
- File dialogs can be switched by clicking on items in DragStrip
3.1 strips as well as Finder windows.
- Graphic Converter 3.1's "Convert More" feature uses Default Folder
to provide Finder window clicking in its custom file dialog.

Subject: [*] DPC Bundle 1.1.1 - A Desktop Picture Changer
DPC Bundle is yet another set of tools that let you automate the changing
of your desktop picture. Among tools included is an AppleScript and an
application:
- Desktop Picture Changer: Changes the desktop picture from pictures in a
folder. It can choose them randomly or sequentially. It can change the
desktop at specified intervals or just when you run the applet.
- Desktop Picture Aligner: A great little tool that lets you set default
alignment settings for any picture to be displayed on the desktop. For
example, you can specify a picture to be displayed scaled and aligned to
the bottom right corner of the screen.
Changes in 1.1.1:
This is mostly a documentation update, as it seems several users were
getting confused when asked where "Desktop Pictures" was. The script was
asking for the control panel, not the folder of pictures.
Changes since 1.0:
The only thing that's changed is Desktop Picture Aligner, which has had
several interface improvements and now lets you align pictures to the
corners of the desktop (before you could only align to the sides). It also
lets you change the creator type of processed files.
Try it out. At the very least, you'll find Desktop Picture Aligner useful.
It doesn't need the rest of the tools. Requires Mac OS 8. It's freeware,
enjoy.

is it changes the look of the green and grey information column
which is found on the right side of the screen during play. It
changes it from green and grey to blue, green and black, but most

EV BlueColumn with several other plugins and there doesn't
seem to be any conflicts or errors. Have fun !

Subject: [*] FFTs-for-RISC-2-c
Enclosed is a stuffit archive of version 2.0 of my 'C' source code fft
library.
Very-Fast Fourier Transform routines. Routines are provided for real
and complex forward and inverse 1d and 2d fourier transforms and 3d
complex forward and inverse ffts. I coded these to optimize execution
speed on Risc processors like the PowerPC. All fft sizes must still be a
power of two. Test programs that use the Numerical Recipes in C routines
are provided. Also included are some simple applications with source
code which time the FFTs. See the enclosed read me file for more
information.
Revision version 2.0:
Rewrote code to rely more on compiler optimization (and be a bit less
ugly.)
Removed restrictions on too small or too large ffts.
Provided a library extension that manages memory for cosine and bit
reversed counter tables.
Added 2d and 3d complex and 2d real ffts.
Speeded routines for data too large to fit in primary cache.
Changed most testing from Matlab to Numerical Recipes based (because
you can buy it for less.)
Changed call parameters (watch out.)
Revision version 1.21:
line 126 of rfftTest.c corrected.
Revisions version 1.2:
I now store the Nyquest point of the real transform where the 0
for the DC term's
imaginary part used to be. !! WATCH OUT FOR THIS IF YOU USE rfft !!
Added the real inverse Fourier transform.
Revisions version 1.1:
Re-arranged to put fft routines in a shared library and changed
source file name to fftlib.c.
Removed some ugly optimizations that are no longer needed for
CodeWarrier.
This code is public domain, do anything you want to with it.

Fractal Domains v1.2.2 - Fractal Exploration for the Power Macintosh
---
Fixes a serious problem with saving to PICT in the last version. Also, adds
support for PNG graphics format.
Fractal Domains is a shareware program that generates fractal images. It
runs only on the Power Macintosh. Fractal Domains generates color images of
the most popular fractal, the Mandelbrot set, and also generates images of
the associated Julia sets (other fractal types will follow shortly).
Fractal Domains has several options for producing striking variations of
fractal images, and includes advanced features for producing high-quality
images. Fractal Domains features include:
- Generation of Mandelbrot and Julia sets
- Editable color maps
- Options for generating dwell values
Escape Time
Continuous Potential
Angular Decomposition
Distance Estimation
- Orbit Trap Fractals, including
Stalks (cross- shaped orbit trap)
Imaginary or Real Stalks
Circular
Square
- Several options for dividing fractals into regions with distinct color maps.
- Professional features for quality image generation including:
Full support for 24-bit color images.
Image rendering with anti-aliasing.
Spooling large images to disk (allows images too large to fit into RAM).
Export to PICT or PNG file formats
Fractal Domains is shareware. Some features are restricted in the
unregistered version, although you can do quite a bit in the unregistered
version. Details can be found in the user's manual and in "Read Me -
Registration."

This is the release of Jon's Commands 2.0.3. This revision fixes a couple
of bugs that people have reported since the release of 2.0.1, including
fixes to the copyFile command when replacing multiple files, the ability to
save and restore the clipboard's entire state as a record (useful for
saving and restoring the clipboard when you have to use it) and fixes to
the moveFile command when moving to the desktop (in support of the Finder

For the curious, 2.0.2 only went out to a few testers before the moveFile

NRJ-DULE 1.0
NRJ-dule is aN experimental laboratory for exploring the way we produce

Highly interactive, NRJ-dule is aimed at High School/University
students, and Unlike most courseware, it doesn't try to TEACH you, it
lets you discover.
Created after Neurodule, a highly acclaimed simulation of the neuron,
NRJ-dule is more multimedia and better integrated.
NRJ-dule is essentially interactive, so there is little text. However
what text there is, is in French. (we speak french over here in
Geneva...) Teachers here found it allows a much better in-depth

There are 9 modules :
* Simulated running (3 phases of energy production, lactic acid etc.)
* Carbon cycle
* Animal respiration
* Plant photosynthesis
* Dark phase
* Light reaction
* Glycolysis
* Krebs cycle
* Respiratory chain

Subject: Packerland - a color scheme for Kaleidoscope v1.8
Email: pandsvieth@earthlink.net
Web Page: home.earthlink.net/~pandsvieth/PackerLand.html
Date: 01/19/98=03
Well, I finally sat down, dedicated some time and finished this new
version (v2) of my Green Bay Packer 'theme' color scheme for
Kaleidoscope. I released the first version of PackerLand just after the
Packers' Super Bowl win about a year ago. I've revamped many of the
graphical elements and added many new system icon replacements. This
new version of PackerLand takes advantage of all the latest Kaleidoscope
v1.8 features, many of which are Mac OS8 specific. This version of
PackerLand will not work with Kaleidoscope versions older than 1.5.
PackerLand comes two ways - the standard version and the 'Less Filling'
version. The standard version differs from the 'Less Filling' version
only in that it replaces your system icons with my custom versions. So
if you're one of these people that can't stand schemes loaded up with
replacement icons, you can opt for PackerLand - Less Filling. However,
if you want the full experience of PackerLand, go with the standard
version. Some of the icon highlights are: the trash can being replaced
by a 'Gatorade' type cooler that you can dump on your desktop, cheesy
looking folders of all sorts, the fileserver icon is replaced by
portable charcoal grill serving up a bratwurst, the floppy disk icon is
replaced by a staple food - the individually wrapped cheese slice (yes,
I've tried it - they really do fit nicely in the floppy drive slot) and
the check boxes are now brat buns that you 'check' by placing a brat in
them. Also in the package, I've included stand-alone helmet, player
locker and 'MacOS Guy' icons that you can paste on your hard drive.
Lots of silly stuff, but then that=92s the point of this scheme - it's
supposed to be fun. I'll admit, I can think of a lot more functional
color combinations for an ever day scheme. This is definitely meant for
the die-hard Packer fan.

PKZIP Mac is an advanced data compression program for Macintosh
systems running System 7 or higher. PKZIP Mac is compatible
across many computer platforms, allowing you to transfer zipped files
from one computer to another.
While powerful, PKZIP Mac is easy to use. You can customize PKZIP Mac's
settings with a variety of options. For example: use a faster
compression method for speedier operations, use a higher compression
ratio to save the most disk space, or use passwords to prevent
unauthorized access to your most sensitive files.
PKZIP Mac is a program for compressing data files. Compressed files take
up less disk space. Compressed files are stored in a single Zip Archive.
You could think of a Zip Archive file as an envelope for files. When a
file is compressed, a copy of the file is placed into the Zip Archive.
Putting files in a Zip Archive makes your file lists less confusing.
Many files can be included in one Zip Archive.
