D &/or E: I think that web browsers can only play wave and maybe .au files. Turning on or off the sound playing prefs probably won't effect how the browser treats midi files. I expect that what you need is a plug-in to read midi. The most recent Quicktime installs with a plug-in that should do that. Just in case it doesn't then check the IE or Netscape home pages for plug-in info. They'll have the right one for you. - Scott Remove the "spamless" to return eMail to me. If I am to have any hop of keeping track of my very large collection of Netscape bookmarks I need to sort them alphabetically within folders created in the Bookmarks window, which folders are themselves arranged alphabetically. Folders created within the Bookmarks window appear to be automatically sorted alphabetically but I can find no way (other than manual positioning) to sort the folder contents alphabetically. According tothe Nnetscape 4.0.8 On-Line Help file: 'The Bookmarks window contains a menu bar similar to that of the Navigator window.' and: 'The View Menu By Name arranges bookmark folders and items within folders alphabetically by name. By Location arranges bookmark folders and items within folders alphabetically by URL (disregarding URL protocols such as HTTP and FTP). By Created On arranges bookmark folders and items within folders chronologically by the date the bookmark was created. By Last Visited arranges bookmark folders and items within folders chronologically by the date the bookmark was last displayed. Sort Ascending arranges alphabetical views from A to Z, chronological views from newer to older, and numerical views from 1 to 9. Sort Descending arranges alphabetical views from Z to A, chronological views from older to newer, and numerical views from 9 to 1. ' Despite this, in my version of Netscape, the Bookmarks window does not - as seems to be implied here -have its own set of menus and none of these menu commands appears in theView menu of the Netscape window when the Bookmarks window is open and tothe front. I am using NS 4.0.8 on G3 Minitower using OS8.5 but I have hadsimilar results on a PPC running OS 7.6. I am utterly frustrated and baffled. Can anyone help? I would prefer something which does not remove them, just stops them from animating, or even better, lets me control whether they should animate or be still. I would also like to stop advertisement pop-up-windows, but is it possible for software to separate desirable and unwanted pop-up-windows? I have heard rumours that something called "client-side proxies", for example Muffin, can do such things. It could mean; 0000,7777,00001-That Eudora itself is to blame, as "Sorry; couldn't start that application." is something I see when Eudora occasionally loses its link to SpellSwell.. But from what I can see, it does rely on the OS to supply an app to handle the URL.. 0000,0000,FFFF2-That the preferences for the internet control panel have been corrupted. (This is the system component that keeps the settings of which browser you've set as the default.) *Some suggestions; Make sure "Default Web Browser" under the Web tab has an accurate selection. If that doesn't help, Trash the preferences ("Internet Preferences") Hilite a URL in another app like Stickies, drag it to the desktop, (It will create a MacOS URL clipping file)- double click that. If that fails to launch your preferred browser, it's more likely the Internet settings than Eudora's fault. >Hi. >I am having a problem clicking on URL's that appear in e-mail messages.
