The article was quite long; it dealt with the pros and cons of European players, and their impact on the hockey played in North America. Some potential names in the next draft are mentioned, too. But here's some statistics: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SEASON CANADIAN AMERICAN EUROPEAN TEAMS 1983-84 409 68 47 21 1984-85 409 68 47 21 1985-86 399 79 47 21 1986-87 404 79 42 21 1987-88 409 79 37 21 1988-89 404 74 47 21 1989-90 378 84 63 21 1990-91 383 84 58 21 1991-92 390 94 66 22 1992-93 396 101 103 24 Top 25 players on each team are included, using mid-season rosters. _______________________________________________________________________________ There seems to be a considerable increase in the number of European players in this season. However, it is stated in the article that part of the reason, according to NHL officials, is that with the collapse of the Soviet Union, NHL-teams "have been able to buy several years' worth of talented young Europeans in one go". pn
